In this introductory class, you'll weave a wall hanging or a short table runner. No prior weaving experience is necessary—this class is designed to empower beginners by making warping easy, avoiding common mistakes, and creating successful early projects. You'll choose colors and design your project before learning how to set up a rigid heddle loom. By the end of the class, you'll have new weaving friends and a handwoven keepsake or a wonderful gift! The class will cover rigid heddle loom terminology and mechanics, direct warping, weaving a variety of designs using the clasped weft technique, finishing techniques such as hemstitching and mounting to a dowel, and calculating yarn requirements for future projects. This class is perfect for beginner weavers wanting to expand their skill set and experiment with new techniques and project designs.

Materials students should provide: Notebook, scissors, tape measure, packed lunch

Looms: EVFAC will provide students with a 10” Rigid Heddle Looms, with 8 dent reeds. No renting needed! Students will finish projects by end-of-day! You may also bring your own rigid heddle loom if you have one!
