Evaluating and Processing Fleece with Joy Gethe

Materials Fee (Paid directly to instructor upon arrival): $10
In this four-hour class, students will have hands-on experiences in:
Evaluating the fleece for soundness
Skirting (spreading out a raw fleece and removing the undesirable portions)
Scouring (washing very thoroughly to remove all the lanolin)
Carding wool (Using hand cards to open locks separate, and straighten the fibers for better
drafting).
Making Batts (carding wool in a rectangle shape)
Making Roving (carded wool in a long tube shape)
Combing Top (using hand combs to produce top, the cleanest and smoothest preparation)
Gloves will be provided if students wish. Students will pay a $10 materials fee.
About the Instructor: Joy Getha has been spinning since 2000. She has won several awards including First Place in the Professional class at Estes Park Wool Market. She has been teaching spinning since 2005, and has introduced over 100 people to the ancient craft. She lives in White Rock NM with her husband of 30 years, Johnny, and their cat Chloe.
Class COVID-19 policy: There are no COVID-19 restrictions for this class. Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick, and it is always advised to wear a mask if you are comfortable doing so.
Class cancellation policy: Please note: All Class cancellations are charged a $15 processing fee in addition to the following policy: Class cancellations 7 days or less prior to first day of class will receive no refund. 8-13 days before beginning of class, students will receive an 80% refund. 14 days or more before beginning of class: Full refund.
