From fleece to yarn this is a general overview class with a wide variety of subjects according to how you want to process your fleece.
Bring your own fleece, or purchase a fleece from EVFAC. We will cover the different types of fleece, skirting, washing, picking, carding, using combs, as well as spinning with drop spindle, Navajo spindle and spinning wheels.
Carol surveys the class to see which subject the students want to spend the most time. This class may also cover a bit about felting if there is interest. Come play, and see what you like according to what you want to make. This is a great survey course, and it will show you what the center has to offer.
You can sign up to take this course for either one or two days. Register for two days and save today! Carol is an amazing instructor and has much to offer.
***This class will coincide with the annual Sheep Shearing day happening at Los Luceros on April 6th! This annual Spring event is free for all New Mexico residents and children 16 and under, or $7 for non-residents. While attending the Sheep Shearing Day is not a requirement to taking this class it is a great opportunity for you to learn about the Navajo-Churro sheep and its importance to New Mexico history and culture. Attendees will be able to watch the sheep shearing, skirt the wool, and take a drop spinning workshop. Click here to be taken to the info page for Sheep Shearing Day***
As this is a long class, please bring lunch, snacks, and water!
