Sewing 102: Sew Your Own Drawstring Bag

This class if for Beginner Sewists, please know how to thread your machine and a bobbin.

A Material kit for this class is available for purchase of $20. Students may bring their own materials. See below.

Take your sewing skills to the next level. This class teaches how to apply sewing skills to small projects. Each month Michelle and Robbie will design a simple project to help you practice your skills and create a useful item to keep or gift using  sewing and/or quilting basics.

This course go through the steps to create the drawstring bag! Students may cut their own peices during class, or purchase a Kit from the instructor for $20 before the class begins.

Sewing Machines:

Sewing machines are available at the center, but if you have your own machine you are encouraged to bring it along with you to class. Robbie and Michelle have extensive knowledge of most machines, and it would be wonderful if you were to learn to use your personal sewing machine. If you have a preferred thread, scissors, and other sewing notions, please bring them.  If using your own machine remember to bring any accessories needed like extra bobbins and presser feet. Also remember your power cord, foot pedal, operating manual if you have one. 

Materials Students should provide:

Sewing machine, if you have your own, and everything needed to make it operate. The sewing machine owners manual is also helpful. Students will need thread as well, any kind or color.

If you do not want to purchase a sewing kit: Please bring 3 pieces of different fabric, 1/2 yard each.

Please note: this is a 6 hour class: There will be breaks, but please bring lunch, snacks, beverages and a water bottle to keep up your strength.

Class COVID-19 policy: There are no COVID-19 restrictions for this class. Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick, and it is always advised to wear a mask if you are comfortable doing so.

Class cancellation policy: Please note: All Class cancellations are charged a $15 processing fee in addition to the following policy: Class cancellations 7 days or less prior to first day of class will receive no refund. 8-13 days before beginning of class, students will receive an 80% refund. 14 days or more before beginning of class: Full refund.
