Introduction to Colcha

In this workshop, students learned Colcha Embroidery at EVFAC with Vanessa Zamora. Vanessa is a Colchera out of Denver Colorado. Zamora was the winner of this years poster at Spanish Market, here in New Mexico! In this class students will learn how to Colcha a simple image using traditional materials. Keep the Colcha tradition alive with this introductory workshop, this March at EVFAC.

About Vanessa Zamora: Vanessa Zamora is a visiting Colchera artist from Denver, Colorado. She has participated in the New Mexico Spanish Market for the past three years. This last year her work was featured on the Spanish Market poster. Zamora has taught colcha classes in both Denver, Colorado and Chimayo, New Mexico. “I find it very important to pass traditional Colcha down to a younger generation, so that they are able to carry such a lovely art form for many more years to come.”
