Colcha Embroidery with Annette Gutierrez Turk

In this Colcha Embroidery course students learned the fundamentals of colcha embroidery, basic embroidery and fill stitches, received a historical perspective on the cultural importance of colcha embroidery, and learned of traditional imagery and icons used within colcha embroidery. Each student embroidered their own sabanilla with instruction from Annette and took home a beautiful Colcha piece!

Annette Gutierrez Turk is an award winning colcha embroidery artist who spins her churro fleece, weaves her sabanilla and designs colcha embroidery motifs. She's taught throughout New Mexico for local, regional and national organizations.
