Basic Basketry with Fish Trujillo

Fish Trujillo is from Espanola. She learned basketry from Lorenzo Armijo from Pena Blanca in early 2000. Other teachers are Bob Allalunis from Taos and other basket makers from Santa Clara and San Juan pueblos. Fish has demonstrated basketry at Rancho Golondrinas in various Rag Rug festivals and Fiber Arts shows.

Students learned to weave a basic basket out of fresh willows. Students left EVFAC with a sturdy basket with handles that can be used to harvest vegetables or herbs or used as an egg basket.
